Much of my time lately has been working and relaxing by doing what is pictured to the right. Lots of that, with my lovely dog Mia to help me out. She was very excited by the Thanksgiving preparations, btw. I dropped many things. I only have one counter. My life is hell.
Those In the Know are aware that I work two days a week at a bookstore and three to five days a week at a coffee shop. This leads to little free time, sometimes, if I let myself get overwhelmed to the point of sluggishly staying in bed until about an hour before I have to leave in the afternoon. But my mornings are free, and I've been utilizing them more lately.
For example, I managed to clear away about three full shelves of shelf space for books! Terry Pratchett has his own bookcase. It used to be for Tamora Pierce, because the TP initials just get me, but I got a second YA bookcase and could fit her back over there.
Tamora Pierce is, of course, one of my favorite authors. I think having a favorite book itself is kind of like asking to choose between superpowers-- they're all awesome, and you're getting superpowers, so what are you complaining about?-- but Wild Magic would be one of the five books I would save come the apocalypse. I'm assuming that other people can also save five books, because I'm not choosing the most important in the world, here, just the ones that would make post-apocalyptia worth living.
The others, for the record, are Drawing Blood and Liquor by Poppy Z. Brite, American Gods by Neil Gaiman, and Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie. I reserve the right to change my mind at any point before the actual apocalypse.
I have a new iPod now, my first ever that I've bought for myself, and my last was a second generation iPod nano. To put that into perspective, I was sixteen when I got that iPod-- it was 2006 when was first released and 2007 when I was given it. It is now 2013, this is a fifth gen iPod Touch, and I am twenty-three.
This means that I can actually take pictures on the fly and post them quickly. Thank the Elder Gods for the iPod-- what would we do without you, you beautiful, beautiful thing?
Best birthday present to self ever!
I am not only going to do food posts, but also some various domesticity. That is my right, since Working Girl is busy and anything that gets her to write is an A+ at life.
(Also, I now have a cat as well! His name is Simon. <3)
